About Alicia
At a young age, Alicia alway knew that art was the path of her life. From Mosaics to Murals, throughout Alicia’s life, she creates with enthusiasm, meaning and passion.
The thing that sets Alicia apart from other artist is the adaptability to the new, being open to new expressions, ideas, and new design. “ So much can be learned from Art History, but it is when we bring history into the new, magic happens.”
Alicia receiving her Bachelors at Alberta College of art and design in Fine Arts. After graduating, Alicia had a keen interest in learning about the business of Art, so she accepted a job to work at Creations Gallery, Victoria. Where Alicia learned the business of selling art, organizing shows, and fixing/maintaining sculptures.
While learning the in’s and outs of selling high end art, La Rue acquired a certificate in webs design from Q college, where she excelled in Adobe programs. Working in Virtual medium allowed Alicia to apply her fine arts background with design. Alicia enjoyed working with clients on logo, branding, and marketing. After working at Creations Gallery for 3 years, Alicia then made the transition to designing full time, first the work came in bidding for jobs on platforms like Design Crowd, Freelancer, and 99 Designs, then to word of mouth. Alicia’s design work can be found all across the world, from clients like 3 African Sisters in Rwanda, collaborating Automotive Designer with Jesper Hermann on Art of Motors, Jimi Hendrix Foundation, Robert Bateman Foundation, and Scimitar London. Brendan Harkin founder of X-Media Lab (an Internationally Acclaimed Digital Media Think-Tank) describes Alicia
as “"We were dazzled by Alicia's artistry and originality. The best art-work we've ever been given”. While thriving in the design world, Alicia always found time to creating fine art. Always having a painting on the go, she took part in many art shows, showing in the Sooke Fine Art show, Old School gallery, and The LOOK Art Shows. She has also created numerous mural in Mexico and Port Alberni. While in Port Alberni, Alicia created a 40x20 foot mural at Canal Beach for the City of Port Alberni.
Alicia stared Thrive Design and Apparel, with a focus on designing and creating apparel ( silk screen) for events across the island. Some of those events WindFest ( National Kiteboarding Event), Tri-conic Challenge (Celebrating Canada 150) , Ride don’t Hide, Canadian Metal Health Association and ACDC SUP Challenge.
While Promoting numerous events, Alicia found herself becoming a tv personality for Shaw Cable, co-producing Alberni Thrive, a political talk show, that aired on Shaw Cable for a year. In 2016, Alicia ran as the political candidate for the Mid Island Pacific Rim Green Party in the Provincial election. While always having a flair for creating beautiful works of art, Alicia also has a passion for working with Government and public speaking.
Alicia now is busy creating art out of semi-presious stones, where she teaches private events on the healing of art.
